# Niv 0.3.68

2026-10-17

- Typing in a long note now saves just what you typed instead of rewriting the whole note every few seconds, and quitting Niv (Cmd+Q, the Dock, or logging out) leaves your notes readable by an older copy of Niv
- Leaving Niv on Home no longer keeps your Mac busy redrawing it: the system’s window drawing drops from about half a CPU core to under a tenth, and the símbolo breathes when Home appears, then rests
- The first time you open a long note, it opens in about 3 seconds instead of 5, and Niv reads a note’s Markdown about 11% faster
- Closing or switching away from a long note no longer redraws it first: the pause when you leave it drops from about 3 seconds to about 1
- Coming back to a large graph takes a fraction of a second, even after restarting Niv, and it keeps the shape you left it in; the first time, reading and arranging it is one quiet moment instead of a spinner
- Publishing a big Space for the first time is faster and far lighter: with 25,000 notes, Niv publishes about two and a half times as many notes in the same time while using a fraction of the CPU, saving each long note in it is about 7 times faster, and its own changes coming back settle as they arrive
- Niv writes to disk far less: at rest it no longer writes every few seconds just to note the time, and typing no longer writes its index for every reply from the server
- A note you open from Home now takes Home’s tab instead of adding another one; Home is still one click away in the sidebar
