You can do it yourself in the app, or ask us by email. ## In the app - On your phone: tap your picture at the top of the home screen, then Delete my account, under Danger zone. - On your computer: Settings › Account › Danger zone › Delete my account. You type your email, then a six-digit code we send to it, and the account is closed at once. Erasing usually finishes within minutes. ## By email Write to hey@niv.md from the address you sign in with, and ask us to delete your account. It is done within 30 days. ## What is erased Your profile, settings, devices and encryption keys; the Spaces only you are in; and what Niv keeps on your phone for your account. In Spaces shared with others, your notes and comments stay for them, shown as "Deleted account", with no name, email or picture. ## What stays The Markdown files on your computers, if you use Niv on one. Niv keeps its access records (when you used Niv, from which IP address, and with which app version) for 6 months, as Brazilian law requires, and the invoices for Niv Pro payments for 5 years, as tax law requires. Then they're erased. ## Niv Pro If you pay through Niv's website or desktop app, deleting your account ends Niv Pro at once. Within 14 days of your first payment, that payment is refunded in full; after that, the rest of the period isn't refunded. If you subscribed in the App Store or on Google Play, deleting your account doesn't cancel or refund it. Cancel it there.

Delete some of your data

You can erase part of what Niv keeps without deleting your account. ### A Space If you own a Space, delete it on your computer: Settings › Space › Danger zone › Delete Space. Everyone loses access at once. Niv erases its notes, folders, versions, comments and images from its servers, usually within minutes, and takes down its published pages. The Markdown files on members' computers stay where they are. ### A note On your computer, deleting a note moves its file to the vault's .niv/trash folder and takes it out of the Space on every device. You can bring it back from Settings › History. This doesn't erase it: Niv keeps a deleted note on its servers, with its versions and images, until its Space is deleted (deleting your account deletes the Spaces only you are in). Notes can't be deleted in the phone app yet. ### Versions of a note In Spaces that aren't encrypted yet, Niv keeps the full text of each version for 90 days. After that, older versions are merged into one, and the record of who changed what, and when, stays. In encrypted Spaces, every version is kept. The apps can't delete a single version. ### Published notes When you unpublish a note, its page stops being served at once. Copies cached along the way can stay visible for up to a day. Niv keeps the published copy and its images on its servers until the Space is deleted (deleting your account deletes the Spaces only you are in). ### Comments and Spaces you're in Comments are erased with their Space; the apps can't delete a single comment yet. You can't leave a Space you don't own in the apps yet, and what you wrote there stays for its other members. ### Ask us by email To erase specific notes, versions or published copies from our servers without deleting the Space or your account, write to hey@niv.md from the address you sign in with. It's done within 30 days. ### Niv Pro from the App Store or Google Play A subscription bought in the App Store or on Google Play is cancelled only there; deleting data in Niv doesn't cancel it.
