# Search

There are three ways to find something, from wide to narrow.

## Search every note (⌘K)

Press ⌘K, or choose **Search** in the sidebar. Type a word or a phrase. Niv finds notes by their title and by the text inside them.

Notes whose title matches come first. Matches inside the text arrive a moment later. When there are more matches than fit, Niv says how many more, so you can keep typing to narrow it down.

Press ⌘K again to close the search.

## Jump to a note by name (⌘O)

Press ⌘O and type part of a note's name. With nothing typed, it shows your recent notes and recent Spaces.

- ↑ and ↓ move through the list.
- ↵ opens the note.
- ⇧↵ creates a new note with the name you typed.
- esc closes it.

Notes from your templates folder are marked "template".

Type `>` first to run a command instead. See [Keyboard shortcuts](/p/docs/keyboard-shortcuts).

## Find in the open note (⌘F)

Press ⌘F to find text in the note you're reading. ↵ goes to the next match, ⇧↵ to the previous one.

## Ask your agent

Your AI agent can search your notes too, and show what it found. See [AI chat](/p/docs/ai-chat).
