# Settings

Open Settings with ⌘, on macOS, or from the command list (⌘O, then `>`). Each section says where its settings are kept: in this folder, on this device, in your account, or in the Space.

## General

- **Appearance**: theme, shape, your colour, whether to show the title above the note, icons in tabs and in the note list, and zoom. See [Themes and appearance](/p/docs/themes-and-appearance).
- **Your day**: when your day ends, for your streak and calendar. See [Daily and recurring notes](/p/docs/daily-and-recurring-notes).

## Account

Sign in or out, and choose Niv's **Language**. Invitations to Spaces that are waiting for you are here too, with **Open** and **Decline**. See [Signing in](/p/docs/signing-in) and [Members and roles](/p/docs/members-and-roles).

## Space

The Space this folder syncs with: pick one, create one with **New**, or **Unbind**. **People** lists who's in it, and owners and editors can **Invite** people. **Space sync** compares your files with the Space. See [Spaces](/p/docs/spaces).

## Sync

What sync needs from you: files to review, files waiting for you to confirm before they join the Space, notes waiting to join the Space, changes the Space refused, and notes whose properties Niv can't read. ## Templates

Your templates folder, date and time formats, and the first day of the week. See [Templates](/p/docs/templates).

## Recurring notes

Notes Niv makes for you on a schedule, and invitations from other people. See [Daily and recurring notes](/p/docs/daily-and-recurring-notes).

## Published site

Only for a folder that syncs with a Space: the title of the Space's public site, the page its address opens on, and the order of its index. Owners and editors change it; everyone else can see it. See [Publish a note](/p/docs/publish-a-note).

## AI

Instruction files, the agents Niv found, and your agents' MCP servers. See [Set up your agent](/p/docs/set-up-your-agent).

## History

What was created, moved, renamed or deleted in the Space, with **Undo**. See [Versions and history](/p/docs/versions-and-history).

## About

The version of Niv you're running, **Check for updates**, and **What changed**.

## Updates

Niv downloads its updates itself. When one is ready, Home shows "Niv … is ready · Restart to update". Choose **Restart to update**, or **Later**: the update installs the next time Niv restarts, and nothing changes until then.
