Niv's chat runs the AI agent you already use, on your device, with your own account and plan. It can read, search, write and organize your notes, and every action shows up in the conversation.

Supported agents: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok, OpenCode and Antigravity. To install one, see Set up your agent.

Open a chat

Choose AI Chat in the sidebar, then New chat.
Or press ⌘I to open the AI tab in the right rail, next to the note you're in.

Type your message and press ↵. To bring a note into the conversation, type @ and pick it.

Choose the agent and how it works

Under the message box:

Model: which agent and model answers. Only agents that are ready can send. If one isn't ready, the list shows the commands to install it and sign in.
Reasoning: how hard the model thinks, where the agent offers it.
Access: what the agent may do without asking. See Access levels.
Skills: add one of your agent's skills to the message.

Attach files

Paste, drop or attach up to 5 files per message: images, PDF, TXT, MD, CSV or XLSX. Images can be up to 10 MB and other files up to 50 MB, with 100 MB per message in all.

What the agent does in your notes

Each action is a row in the chat: what it read, searched, created, changed, moved or deleted. When the agent deletes a note, it goes to the Space's trash, so you can bring it back from Settings › History.

When the agent wants to run something that needs your OK, it asks in the chat:

Allow runs it once;
Allow for this chat lets simple commands like it run without asking until the chat ends;
Deny stops it. Deny with a reason… tells the agent why.

The keys a and d answer too. While a question is open, the agent waits.

Insert with AI

In a note, type / and choose Insert with AI. Say what you'd like added, and choose Draft (⌘↵). The agent writes using the whole note as context. Read the proposal, then choose Insert or Discard.

Your chats stay on this device

Chat history is kept on this device. Rename or delete a chat from the history list. Deleting a chat can't be undone.
