Find your way around
Niv's window has three parts: the sidebar on the left, your open notes in the middle, and the note's context on the right.

The sidebar
At the top:
Home: your day in one place. See Home.
Search: search the text of every note (⌘K). See Search.
Graph: how your notes connect. See The graph.
AI Chat: your chats, and New chat. See AI chat.
Below that is Notes, the folders and notes in your folder. See Notes and folders.
At the bottom is the sync line: the Space's name and a word like "synced" or "offline". Click it to open the matching part of Settings. See Sync status.
⌘B shows or hides the sidebar. Drag its edge to make it wider or narrower.
Tabs
Each open note has a tab. ⌘T opens a new tab and ⌘W closes the current one. Home, the graph and AI chats open in tabs too.
The right rail
The rail beside a note shows its context, in six tabs:
AI: a chat next to the note.
Links: what this note links to, what links here, and connected notes. See Links and backlinks.
Outline: the note's headings.
Tags: the note's tags.
Graph: the note's neighbourhood.
History: its versions, and edits made at the same time as someone else. See Versions and history.
Open or close the rail with its button in the tab bar. ⌘I opens it on the AI tab, and closes it when AI is already showing.
Find a note or run a command
Press ⌘O. Type part of a note's name to open it. If nothing matches, ⇧↵ creates a note with that name.
Type > first to run a command instead, such as New folder, Today's note, Open graph or Open Space….
